Abby

I wanted to take a moment to remember our very special dog, Abby. It may seem funny, but she was a member of our family for the last ten years. Unfortunately, she died last night, and our house is very sad.

Abby was found wandering the streets by our former neighbor who took her in. Abby (for Abandoned) was abused by a former owner. She couldn't stand to be around poles or brooms. She loved our pool man because he treated her with compassion, and gave her dog treats! Our neighbor cared for her for two years until his untimely heart attack. Abby came to us and has been part of our family ever since.

Abby was a Scottish Terrier with a heart of gold. She loved to ride in the car and danced for her dinner every night. Our neighbors always knew she was getting fed by her lusty barks, and they would say to each other that it was Abby's dinner time.

We will miss her, but I wanted to take a chance to let other people know how important she was to us. Can she be replaced? Never. Will we get another dog? In a while, when another dog steals our hearts.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our animals are just as much a part of our families as the humans are and it's a great tragedy when we lose anyone of the members of our families. My thoughts are with you.

I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry for your loss. We have two cats and they are part of our family - I don't know what I'd do without them.

God bless the good and noble Abby as she travels in heaven.

I am so sad and sorry for your loss. She was, without question, a most excellent dog. We will miss her too.

I'm sorry for your loss - Abby sounds like she was a very special dog, and a lucky one in that she not only found one wonderful home, but two! I've lost a few dogs over the years and I know the pain of it - our fur children are important members of the family.

*hugs*

Abby sounds like a wonderful dog and she was certainly lucky to find caring people like you and your neighbor.

I'm sorry for your loss. They certainly leave a huge hole in our lives when they go, don't they?

Literary - Thanks for your thoughts. Abby was an important part of our family.

Mrs. S - Our cat is wonderful. Daisy is loving yet aloof ... everything you'd want in a cat.

Pres - I'm convinced she's having a great time and has found her previous owner so he can carry her around some more!

Joy - Thanks for the sweet words. We have been sharing memories of her all week.

Wendy - How interesting. We always called her our furperson. She always seemed more mature than a child to us.

cj - Thanks for your words. Yes, there is a hole, but we are not racing to fill it. We want to take time to make sure the right dog finds us.

It's amazing how pets find a way into our hearts, curl up, and make a home! Your Abby sounds like she was wonderful.

I'm new to book blogging and have been surfing around from a list on Garutami's site. I see that you've recently read a couple of Jodi Picoult's novels. I agree with you about Plain Truth. It was a bit tedious and predictable and I, too, saw the ending coming.

I disagree with you about Jesse in My Sister's Keeper, though. I loved him and thought he was necessary to show what happens when a child is pushed aside. In fact, it was during his scenes that I cried the most.

I just finished Nineteen Minutes a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I wrote a poem about it and posted it on my poetry blog.

After that I read Stephen King's latest and started my reading blog with it.

Next up will be Picoult's newest Change of Heart.

Thanks for your interesting and well-written blog; I'll be back to scroll through.

I am awfully sorry. Of course she was a part of your family! It's been 14 years since we lost our Roger (black cocker spaniel) and we've had other wonderful pets since, but I just can't really talk about Roger to this day without getting choked up.
