I just found this challenge, and it sounds like fun. I love to read books and see the movies to compare them. I normally like the books much better, but I could surprise myself.
Anyway, I picked three books for this challenge. I've already seen two of the movies, but haven't read the books which is somewhat backwards for me. The third is a book I've wanted to read and movie many people have told me to rent so here goes.
My three choices:
1. Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
(loved the movie)
2. Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
(loved the movie...Meryl Streep was a riot)
3. Freedom Writer's Diary by Erin Gruwell
(highly recommended by a number of friends)
Check out the link on the sidebar for all the details on this one.

i think i'm going to have to do this too!
i've already read The Devil Wears Prada (but i haven't seen the movie yet) - and i've got the DVD of Freedom Writer's Diary on hold at the library (but i didn't know it was a book).
The author of Freedom Writer's is the Long Beach teacher who worked with the kids. She also teaches college classes in the area. I may see the movie first and do the entire challenge backwards.
I was thinking of starting a books/movies challenge myself, but then I realized I'm too busy to even be keeping up with the challenges I'm not organizing, so I'm glad someone else had the same idea. Hope you enjoy those books.
I hope to ... it's a good idea for a challenge. I'm trying to keep my challenges manageable but we'll see.
What a great idea for a challenge....I would have done this one, if I hadn't signed up to 2 others already....there are quite a few movies I haven't seen yet because I have the books sitting on my shelves waiting to be read first! :)
never heard of the last one, let us know how was it!
Much Ado: Like I said, I'm doing this one backward. Seeing the movies first.
Valentina: I'll be sure to let you know. It's a book with a local connection ... my husband has met the author.
Thanks for participating in the Books to Movies challenge!
I have Freedom Writers in my TBR collection, but will not be reading it for this challenge. I look forward to reading your thoughts on this one though. I've heard great things about the movie. Not many people I know have read the book yet.
